Emma’s Roses All Around

One little girl in Charleston, South Carolina, will wear a very sweet and dreamy dress this year on Easter. Cyndy in Hastings, Minnesota, created this dress from Creative Needle’s Shoulder Button Bishop pattern for her granddaughter, Emma.

The fabric is Martha Pullen’s Victorian blush batiste. The smock plate is by Trudy Horne of Collars Etc. Pattern Company. If you go to her Facebook page, you’ll find this “Roses All Around” smock plate as a free download. A few copies of the pattern may still be available at Farmhouse Fabrics. Horne notes on her Facebook page that any bishop pattern can be used. You can also find helpful tips in Sarah Douglas’ book, The Pleater Manual, on such a beautiful placket placed on the shoulder.

  1. Hi! Found you via Janice Ferguson. Although I’m in Phoenix now, I’m originally from WI and most of my siblings live there. Love this little smocked dress. My nephew’s wife is from Hastings, and they live there. AAMOF he’s (one of? the) the High School football coaches! Don’t know if there’s more than one HS there.
